Summer 2017 U.S. Information Ecosystem Forecast

July 7, 2017 by Josh Wilson Leave a Comment

Climate:

Florid, feverish, rife with allegations, and simmering with partisan resentment, all of which adds up to lots of clicks and brisk business for outrage-chasing mass media.

Health advisory:

Incitement and intolerance flourish in this hot, humid environment like malarial mosquitoes in swampy lagoons of oft-willful ignorance — at both ends of the political spectrum.

Crop Advisory:

Cultivate a culture of democracy by investing in civic media according to need rather than market viability. This amounts to a pivot to an intention economy, and away from the attention economy.
